Renowned Albanian writer Ismail Kadare writes during an interview with AFP on October 14, 2023, in Tirana, as French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to award Ismail Kadare in Tirana on October 17. The Albanian writer, now 87 years old, created a significant body of work during the communist dictatorship of Enver Hoxha. He used letters as a tool of freedom and explored the myths and history of his country to expose the universal evil of totalitarianism.
